What is Divorce Mediation?
Divorce Mediation is a process which can be used to resolve a dispute or to obtain a divorce. It is an
alternative to litigation and provides a way to avoid courtroom battles.
In divorce mediation, our team helps you negotiate and resolve issues such as custody, visitation,
property division, and support. The mediation team does not make the decisions; you do!
Once both sides have agreed to use divorce mediation as an alternative to hiring separate family
law attorneys, an initial session is scheduled.
During this first session, both sides receive an orientation to the mediation process. The number
of sessions needed to reach agreement depends on the complexity of the issues, and upon the
parties’ ability to work toward a solution.
After agreements are reached, the mediation team prepares all of the legal paperwork for you. You sign
the final agreement only when you are completely satisfied that it is fair for you. No court appearances
are necessary.
